Event Planners

I met with my friend Kate’s event planner in San Francisco on Thursday and this is the first disappointment of all the contacts I’ve had.

I walked from Market and Front to Union Square to the St. Frances Hotel to meet with Sam and Jane who is his Management Strategies consultant. Usually when I tell people about my plan they are enthusiastic and come up with suggestions and introductions.

I have never met anyone like Jane who could only rain on my parade. She made up all kinds of negative scenarios and all the reasons why the school won’t be able to work.

After an hour of that conversation I walked from Union Square all the way to AT&T Park for the San Francisco Chamber Trade Show. It’s about a mile and a half and I was wearing heels. But I was able to shake off the negativity I felt from Jane’s attitude.

It reminded me of all the times when I worked in the Fortune 500 arena and had to deal with all the negative attitudes of people who had nothing else to do but give people a hard time.

Another member of Elite Leads introduced me to another event planner so I’ll call her on Monday and see if we can come to a way of working together.

About Sharyn

As founder of UBU I found my inspiration from my brother Tony who was a foster child, then adopted by my parents when he was five. After listening to his stories about the treatment he received while in the homes I began to think of what it was like for him as well as the thousands of other kids. I decided to start the school after Tony passed on in 2008. It is my tribute to him and all that he did for me. Of all the things I've done in my life, this is the one thing that truly makes me feel like I'm finally on the right path.
