Adapting

I’m in San Francisco at a conference and started talking with a young man from Pasadena who moved here from Argentino when he was five years old. Alejandro loved growing up in the United States and thrived as a child.

It shows in his attitude as a young man. He is articulate, intelligent, speaks fondly of his parents and the sacrifices they made moving to America to insure he grew up with advantages they did not have as children.

He was encouraged to play sports, pursue his passions and create a life that was of his choosing.

He’s an active member of the Rotary Club in Southern California and volunteers to help with various programs they all participate in together.

He represents what young adults are meant to become. I am easily twice his age and yet he was comfortable talking with me for nearly an hour. He listened well, knew how to carry on his share of the conversation, he was interesting and Alejandro was an absolute delight to get to know.

I would love to have our children at UBU turn out as well as he has done. Towards the end of our conversation, he volunteered to present UBU to his Rotary Club to ask them to  create an event for the school.

Life is full of miracles and when we are open to them, they just happen more and more often!
