Helping children living on the streets is a major undertaking. There are more than 100 million children living on the streets throughout the world according to yapi.org.

In the U.S. we have more than a million children living on the streets alone and 12,000 in Los Angeles alone. Imagine it takes only $15,000 a year to take care of each of these children. That would be about 15 trillion dollars or about .0003% of the total American net worth.

What is wrong with this picture? What kind of world do we live in where it is more acceptable for a country as far advanced as the U.S. to ignore the children who have no recourse but to live on the streets? I know people believe it is not their problem, but the homeless children numbers have increased drastically over the past 10 years. The more children there on on the streets, the more of a welfare generation we are nurturing. The more youth that will turn to crimes to survive. The more those crimes will spill over into the areas where we all live and think are safe today.

I want to challenge you to look around and see what you can do to help make a difference in your own community. Work with your schools and your churches to instigate programs that will help get these children in safe nurturing environments.

Stop this ridiculous trend and be a part of the solution!
